Book Title: Pictorial Research On Ilkhanid Monuments In Iran |
The Ilkhanate period, in terms of architecture, is considered to be a turning point in the history of Iran. It is worth noting that the Mongols, prior to the occupation of civilized countries, including Iran, were alien to the art of erecting splendid structures and until the time they converted to Islam, they had been unable to construct remarkable buildings. However, after their conversion, they built some of the most beautiful and important constructions in Iran which are nowadays part of their legacy in the history of the country. These buildings, which were built with the support of the Ilkhanate and the artistry of Iranian architects, represent the impact of Iranian culture on Mongolian culture. Owing to the natural and unnatural dangers threatening these buildings, the need to document them is felt more than the past. Hence, at the Foreign Ministry' s Center for International Research and Education it was decided to document and record the Ilkhanid constructions within the framework of a research project. the current work is an offshoot of that research oroject. |
